Terms of Use

These conditions govern use of Rutherford County Criminal History. Visiting a page, reading its content, or submitting a query means that you accept every term below. If you disagree, stop using the website.

NO FCRA USE. This is a private website with no local, Tennessee, or federal government affiliation. Neither the site nor its advertising partners provide a service for credit decisions, employment screening, tenant screening, insurance eligibility, or another purpose regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Its function is to identify Rutherford County and Tennessee criminal-record sources. It is not a consumer reporting agency or private investigation business.

1. What This Website Is

This is an independent private reference site. It neither stores official criminal records nor retrieves a record, conducts an official background check, or files a document for a user.

Its content identifies the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office, criminal courts, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and Tennessee Sex Offender Registry as distinct record sources. Some pages also connect visitors to outside research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the site, you agree not to:

  • Use a bot, scraper, or other automated process against the pages
  • Harass, stalk, intimidate, or threaten anyone with information found here
  • Interfere with access, performance, or another visitor's use
  • Use the content for credit, employment, housing, or insurance decisions
  • Attempt unauthorized access to any system or account
  • Violate a federal, Tennessee, or local law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No one may use information from these pages or a linked tool to threaten, intimidate, harass, stalk, or discriminate against a person. Such conduct may also be criminal. Tennessee's registry law, Tenn. Code Ann. §§40-39-201 through 40-39-218, restricts misuse of Tennessee Sex Offender Registry data. Registry access serves public safety awareness and does not authorize vigilantism or added punishment.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not create consumer reports, credit reports, or background checks. The services presented by us or our advertising partners are not designed for regulated screening. You must not use site or linked-tool data to:

  • Set an insurance rate or judge a person's credit
  • Evaluate a worker or job applicant
  • Decide eligibility for a permit, license, or government benefit
  • Review a tenant or housing applicant
  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated decision

A person who needs a check for a legally regulated purpose must use the proper official Tennessee process or a compliant consumer reporting agency.

5. No Legal Advice

The content is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how a Rutherford County charge, conviction, warrant, or expungement rule applies to specific facts. Seek advice from a licensed Tennessee attorney.

6. No Warranties

All content and services are provided "as is." We make no promise that:

  • A partner tool will return complete or correct results
  • The pages contain no bug, error, or security weakness
  • The site will always remain available without interruption
  • Any item of information is complete, accurate, or current

Charges and records may be filed, changed, dismissed, sealed, or expunged. Delays and gaps can occur. No statement here is an official statement by the Rutherford County courts, Sheriff's Office, TBI, or another government body.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may open a sheriff, court, Tennessee agency, legal resource, or outside search service that we do not operate. We are not responsible for its content, price, privacy practice, accuracy, or availability. Read the destination's terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Rutherford County Criminal History or its content partners own the site's text, graphics, logos, and code. Written permission is required before copying, modifying, distributing, or creating a derivative work from that material.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the greatest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for losses arising from use of the site, its information, or a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, demands, or proceedings caused by your use of the website or breach of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

Tennessee law governs these terms. Any proceeding related to use of the website must be brought in a court located in Tennessee.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms. A revision becomes effective when the new text is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or ended at any time, without advance notice and for any reason.

14. Severability

If one term is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in effect. The affected provision will be limited only as much as necessary to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be submitted through the Contact page.
